First of all, I’m an animal lover. Second of all, I enjoyed the unique angle of sea turtle study and their rescue & rehabilitation. Especially learning almost everything about them, from the laying of eggs to the many dangers in the sea and land that can affect their health and well-being. I had no idea how vastly interesting these beautiful creatures were. The flipside to this, how people can abuse them in vile & sickening ways, especially making a huge profit off of the precious eggs!

That being said, this story touched me in so many ways. Not only learning new things about sea turtles, but how the hero & heroine were real people with real problems. Shepherd Lightman aka Shep—former Marine turned security specialist—is tasked with the job of checking up on Caley Flynn; his best friends not-so-little sister. Tough guy with a sordid past who doesn’t get emotionally attached to anyone. While Caley is just the opposite; gentle-spirited & caring, living the life she always wanted with the sea creatures she’s come to love. Until life turns into a deadly game of cat & mouse! Someone's hiding a secret they'd kill to keep hidden. I like how the suspense builds to a crescendo in this one with each page turn. A classic whodunit where you don't know who's friend or foe until the end and it comes from a source you never expect! Lastly, I loved how Shep learned that no matter how many times he's messed up in his past, God will never withhold His love from him. It's a great reminder to us all, God never changes His mind about choosing us as His people! Faith-filled fiction, don't-turn-your-back-for-one-minute suspense, and rewarding romance is what you'll find in this thrilling new novel!

Wonderful story, Caley loved her job as a vet, but she has promised herself that she will not fall in love with a man that has a dangerous job. Shepherd is all soldier, and because of his up bringing he hold his emotions inside. He will never put his heart out there. He has done so many bad things that no one will ever love him. Oh! But he forgot about God. No matter what we have done our Heavenly Father is a forgiving Father and a Father that loves us unconditionally. This story has murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, and love. Caley learned you have to step out of the boat, it is better to love than not love at all. Shepherd learned that he deserves love. The person that I thought was behind everything was not. Wow author did a great job.
Caley is a Marine Life Veterinarian and specializes in sea turtles. She nurses them back to health, keeps records of the number of eggs laid and those that hatch. When Caley finds one of her interns’ body washed up on the beach, her brother sends his best employee. Shepherd (Shep) grew up in many unloving and abusive foster homes. He had a rough childhood, but it made him a strong soldier and dedicated Security Specialist. Caley and Shep both love God, but because of his past he can’t trust God’s unconditional love. Shep keeps emotional distance from Caley while they search for answers and while he keeps her safe. Who’s threatening Caley and what do the men think she has? Will Shep ever understand that even in the deep waters of loneliness, fear and despair ..... God’s always there with him, never leaving when he “messes up”? This is one of the best books I’ve read; full of suspense, romance and unconditional acceptance!
I've been reading less lately. Not as interested in what I was reading, not finding Love Inspired books that drew me in. Until now. Finally! I feel like I have waited so long for a book like this.

Thanks to the author for a really enjoyable read with a tender and at times humorous romance. It had a good blend of everything and Jessica Patch is now on my must-read author's list. This author has done with others failed to do… keep me with Harlequin Love Inspired. Such a sweet love story with great scripture and God's Word woven throughout.

One thing to note There were maybe 3-4 typos in the book, two of which I could tell were AutoCorrect issues . I highlighted them so they could be fixed.

So when I read the synopsis of Deep Waters, I was interested, but what I really wanted to read was the third book in the Security Specialist Series Dangerous Obsession. But I decided to read them in order, so this was the first book of Jessica Patch's I read. And boy, am I glad I read this book. One, the third book is so much better when having read the previous two before it (the suspense and character's relationship really build along the way). Two, I fell in love with Jessica Patch's writing. And three, I absolutely, wholeheartedly loved this book (it is my favorite of the three)!
The main characters were so great. Caley is smart and passionate and even though she is different from her family, she has her own strength. I loved meeting Caley and going on this crazy suspense ride with her. I adored Shepherd. He was so caring, sweet, and his romance with Caley was downright swoon worthy and hilarious. He is my favorite type of hero.
The mystery was engaging and kept me thinking. I practically devoured this book, eager to know what happened next and to see the progression of Caley and Shepherd's romance. Seriously, I was sneaking in time at work to try and read more of this book. And only a couple of weeks after finishing it, I read it again. It is just so good.
Since having read this book, I have bought and read all of Jessica Patch's Love Inspired books. I have even pre-ordered her upcoming one. I rarely pre-order, but she has become my favorite Love Inspired author.
If you love clean but swoony romances with an exciting mystery, I'd highly suggest you read this book along with the others in the series and all of Jessica Patch's other books. You won't regret it!
