The first few pages were slow and then I couldn't put it down. Not a book I normally would have chosen for myself. I am passing it along to my husband because he will love it.
This is an extremely entertaining and topical summer read. Perfect for the beach or a lazy weekend. You won't be disappointed.
WEAPONIZED is terrific! Move over John LeCarre. Nicholas Mennuti and David Guggenheim are taking over!
You can't put this book down.
I highly recommend Weaponized to anyone looking for some great fiction, that, by the end of the summer, may be moved over to the non-fiction aisle (thanks Edward Snowden). The terrific and biting prose combined with the swift pacing makes for a truly spectacular edge-of-your-seat read from start to finish. You do not come across too many books that make the reader think about the state of the world while following a car chase. You know who would be proud of this book Greene, Palahniuk, Hitchcock, and Ludlum. Not bad company. Also if Weaponized teaches us anything, it's that the government will know if you haven't read Weaponized yet. So do yourself a favor, go read this book before Julian Robinson comes knocking on your door.
I got this book about a week before flying cross-country and was looking forward to reading it on the plane but, ended up finishing it a couple of days before my trip, staying up long past my bedtime to keep reading on more than one occassion.

I've been a fan of Nicholas Mennuti's writing for a few years through his short stories. Those I've read remind me of an analogy I've heard of Byzantine art being an attempt to reach the "divine" through the "grotesque" which, resonates deeply with me. I love that his stories have a dark underbelly without being gratuitous about it and his characters are generally brutally, and beautifully, broken.

Weaponized was a bit of a departure from that, though there were moments that felt familiar and recognizably like his voice. This story was definitely more entertainment than art, much more plot/action driven than his short stories I've read, and requires some amount of suspension of disbelief during some of the action sequences but, not more than any Hollywood action flick. And, while I'm really looking forward to him getting back to the kind of writing I love him for, I'd read the sequel of Weaponized in a heart-beat if he decides to write it.
I bought this book for my father after we watched the movie "Safehouse" - script written by the same author. He really enjoyed it!
