This is the first book I read from MK Harkins. It was a great story and was hard to put down and after reading you want to continue reading more.
Braydon is a wealthy playboy, who is not into relationships. He does not trust woman to develop a relationship with them. He will use his time a very short six hours and send them on their way. Many rumors went on about Braydon which included a raffle for whom ever can make a relationship with Braydon last. Can Braydon be broken?
Jain is a beautiful young woman who dresses down to hide her beauty. She doesn't want things handed to her because of her looks. She doesn't want people thinking of her as a ditsy blonde that doesn't know anything or can not do anything in her own. She is a very bright and talented scientist.
The company Bastion Medical Research, Jain works for had lost funding, so Jain and two of her coworkers decide to seek funding from the BCD funding solutions. Braydon is the owner of this company and when he enters the room he is stunned by what he sees when he looks at Jain.

Breaking Braydon, by M.K. Harkins, is the first book in the Breaking and Taking Series. This is a beautifully written story of two unlikely individuals attracted to one another and the what ifs of them if they were together mixed with betrayal and lies – can those be surpassed or will be their downfall?
M.K. Harkins has given us a well written story in her first of the series. Her characters are flawed in their own aspects allowing them to not be easily trusting with others, set in their ways, and so forth. Jain is a research scientist who takes significant measures to hide her looks turning her into a plain looking woman versus the breathtaking person she was younger. She wasn’t to be known for her attributes and not be judged based on appearances. Braydon is a playboy that doesn’t trust women – they are wrought to betrayal and he’s not leaving himself open to that fate. Yet, things feel different with Jain.
This is a story of taking chances, of breaking down walls and the possibility of love. The story is wrought with emotional ties on both sides. The characters are driven in their own pursuits and have redeemable characteristics. The story progresses through the chapters and flows steadily and does not feel rushed.
I have read one or two other books by this author and I continue to enjoy their writing style. This is not just a quick romance but has worthwhile causes interwoven into the story providing for a well rounded story for the reader.
Jain Parker has learned that her looks ate a hindrance for her success so what does she do she tones down her looks. She becomes Plain Jain. From college her professors not helping her advance and Challenge her because of her looks. Now that her research company losses is funding she just may have to use those looks to get what she needs.
Braydon is a venture capitalist that holds the key to Jains company's success. Braydon seems to be running from something ever since his first love hurt him. He also has a type of woman and didn't realize it until his best friend and co-worker brought it up. They both have a void in relationships. Jain Jane has sworn off men since College and Braydon has sworn off women referring to use them and send them on their way. They both seem to be instantly drawn to each other as they start to work together to figure out what needs to happen for her company. His insecurities start the service and he slowly pushes her away. Jain thinks that she has been played by him the whole time because of his insecurities and the fact he's pushing her away. There's also a past that threatens his future. They both end up being lost without each other and his total lack of faith in her destroys her. Their deep-seated issues of the past maybe enough to prevent them from finding happiness. Can they form a relationship in spite of outside influences, gossip, and the effect a relationship has on the funding for the company?
I love this book from start to finish. Jain is anything but plain. She is smart, she is caring, and she's beautiful. I felt so bad for her feeling like Braydon didn't want anything to do with her. It was so heartbreaking to Read house she felt that she wasn't good enough for him. Braydon wow what can I say about him he is good-looking and he knows it. He is very smart obviously he runs his own company, but man is he stubborn. I understand insecurities coming out but him pushing Jain away was just heartbreaking. This offer is new to me and I was not disappointed I am a fan for life.
MK Harkins is new to me?? I am trying to recall how i got this book? you see I am going through my ARC's and making sure I have reviewed them all ... being a reviewer, book reader and keeping up with all these reviews it takes time ... energy ... i am a reading machine but it does take time. hope authors know that??! anywho ... to what is important here .. the review ... love the cover. awesome! I love the name Braydon. new to me. unique names get me all the time. Pleased. great characters, quick fast read for me. series, i do feel I wanna totally read more ... love this author, glad to know her. must read, loved it. glad i finally am reviewing it ... my bad on being slow about that. it appears I won it ... a giveaway??! i see the note on ... it was a freebie??! i'll keep thinking?!
Good story, and appreciated the author didn't go into every single detail regarding sex...as a matter of fact, sex was casually mentioned they partook and that was it. Congrats! An author dependant on a story vs thinking of every crass word to describe male vs female anatomy and every detail what they did!! Really enjoyed.
